If given the opportunity, what sixteen-year-old wouldn't jump at the chance to move in with a friend and live parent-free? Although maybe "opportunity" isn't the right word, since April had to tell her dad a tiny little untruth to make it happen (see #1: "Lied to Our Parents"). But she and her housemate Vi are totally responsible and able to take care of themselves. How they ended up "Skipping School" (#3), "Throwing a Crazy Party" (#8), "Buying a Hot Tub" (#4), and, um, "Harboring a Fugitive" (#7) at all is kind of a mystery to them.

To get through the year, April will have to juggle a love triangle, learn to do her own laundry, and accept that her carefully constructed world just might be falling apart . . . one thing-she-shouldn't-have-done at a time.

Ten Things We Did (And Probably Shouldn't Have) (pssst. let's shorten it to TTWD) is by author Sarah Mlynowski. I bought this book at the same time I purchased Lola and the Boy Next Door because I was looking for some light reads to read over this long weekend. From previously reading Mlynowski's other series, Magic in Manhattan (aka. Bras and Broomsticks!) I was definitely looking forward to reading this book. Let me just say this, TTWD was so much more than I expected it to be- a must read this spring!

TTWD ( again, the title pretty much sums up the book) follows sixteen year-old April; a girl with a "fantastic" (puh-lease) boyfriend, great friends, and...divorced parents? Boo. Now, April lives an ocean away from her brother and has inherited two new step-parents! Things couldn't get worse...right? When April's dad announces they are moving to Cleaveland, April and her friend come up with a perfect plan to keep April exactly where she is. Living parent-free with an  $1000 allowance.....pfftt.....what could go wrong?

I just fell in love with the main character April. She is such a relatable and "normal" character- she's dealing with real teenage issues, not "supernatural" teenage issues. Mastering the art of lying and planning the night for operation: "lose virginity" are just a few of the many things we get to experience with April. 

What makes TTWD such a fun and light read is the humour Mlynowski puts into her writing. There were quite a few times where, if someone would have walked into my room, they would have seen a big smile plastered permanently on my face. What can I say, you can read my face like an open book....wink wink, nudge nudge....yeah I know, I'm so PUN-y ;P

My only, very minor complaint, would to have been to seen more "love triangle drama." The love triangle, in my opinion, was pretty subtle compared to what I'm used to. It would have been nice to get a little more "spiciness" between April and Hudson because we got so much from April and Noah. That being said, I found Mlynowski did a perfect job at creating a tasteful conclusion that left me begging for more! Ahhhh!

Overall, Ten Things We Did (And Probably Shouldn't Have) is a great light and fun read for any teenage bookworm out there. Sarah Mlynowski writes in a very entertaining way that makes her stories funny and unique. Although TTWD is a stand-alone book, Mlynowski has many other Teen and Chick-Lit books that I think are definitely worth looking at!
