One choice can transform you—or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves—and herself—while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.

Tris's initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors. War now looms as conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows. And in times of war, sides must be chosen, secrets will emerge, and choices will become even more irrevocable—and even more powerful. Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships, Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even if she does not know what she may lose by doing so.

INSURGENT is book number two in the fantastic trilogy by #1 New York Times Bestselling Author Veronica Roth. If you haven't heard about this series before then DON'T continue reading- check out my review for the first book here instead! Insurgent kicks off directly after the final events in Divergent. Both Tris and Tobias (along with a few others) are on the run from the Dauntless compound and are heading towards Amity. With the passing of her parents, and her involvement in Will's death, Tris is a wreck. After just reading Divergent a few weeks ago, I was really excited to return to Tris' world- I'm so glad I didn't have to wait to long to get my hands on this book. Insurgent was a fantastic sequel!

I continue to be surprised by the amount of climatic scenes Roth is able to squeeze into these 500 page works of art. The book goes along at a very exciting pace- making it really hard to put the book down! Seriously, if you were to look up the definition of page-turner in the dictionary, a picture of this book would be right there!

Of course, my ultimate favourite part of Insurgent was....can you guess it? I'm sure you can- it's returning to Tris and Tobias (which I can now say I no longer have any difficulty pronouncing his name....I've practiced ;) ! Their relationship took a really interesting direction in this book. There was lots of fighting and disagreeing, but also, quite a bit of "making up" *giggles shamelessly* Even though, towards the end of the book, the whole 'hot-and-cold' thing was on the verge of being annoying, I think it was essential for this particular pair. Because both Tris and Tobias are such strong and brave characters individually, as a pair, I think they needed this "breaking-in" period to ensure that they would have a strong relationship. I hope it's safe to say that after the ending of Insurgent, their relationship will now be able to move forward in book three *knocks on wood* *touches black* .....I really hope :)

The plot continued to be strong in book two. We get to learn a lot more about past relationships and make new discoveries on some questions that were hinted at in the first book (such as what's outside the gate that is keeping everyone secluded). There are also some shocking alliances and betrayals that are sure to keep you guys on your tows!

The cliffhanger we are left with in the end of Insurgent was, in m opinion, even more cliffhangery than Divergent's. It was an ending that I didn't even suspect coming- making it all the more suspenseful. All I can say is I am now in major denial that I have to wait OVER A YEAR for the next and final book in the trilogy.......sometimes books can be so cruel :(

Favourite Quotes...

“We're all right, you know,' he says quietly. 'You and me. Okay?' My chest aches, and I nod. 'Nothing else is all right.' His whisper tickles my cheek. 'But we are.”     ......Did anybody else just die of swooning?!

“Got that gun?” Peter says to Tobias. “No,” says Tobias, “I figured I would shoot the bullets out of my nostrils, so I left it upstairs.”

“His hands skim my bare arms. “Just bounce a little when you walk,” he says, kissing my forehead, “and pretend you’re afraid of their guns” —another kiss between my eyebrows— “and act like the shrinking violet you could never be ”—a kiss on my cheek— “and you’ll be fine.”

“No matter how long you train someone to be brave, you never know if they are or not until something real happens.”

 Overall...

Overall Insurgent was an even more addicting read than Divergent. The third book, currently untitled, is only expected to be on bookshelves sometime in Fall 2013! Although it is a long wait, Veronica Roth explained on her website that she needs this extra time to make book 3 the best finale it can be- to me, that's worth the wait :) If you haven't heard of this series before than you need to check it out- it is perfect for ALL ages. Both my mom and I are completely in love with this series :D Let me know your thoughts on Insurgent in the comments, and be sure to subscribe while your here! Keep Reading!
