Yes, it is that time of the week. The day we dread and wish would never come- Mondays. *Wipes tear* But have no fear, Memory Lane Monday is here! Every Monday, here atTheYABookworm, I'll do a special post (meme) called Memory Lane Monday. What's that you ask? Memory Lane Monday is a once-a-week post where I (or any other bloggers that wish to participate) choose one book that I've previously read to be featured on that day. From the book chosen, I will pick two of my favourite quotes and write a little blurb containing my quick thoughts on the book. The books that I choose will not be books I've reviewed- since I've read so many books, I want to share with you my opinions on ones that I won't get the chance to fully review (because seriously, rereading dozens of books would take a year...or two)! Be sure to participate by leaving your "Memory Lane Monday" in the comments, or a link to your blog post with the hash-tag #MemoryLaneMonday on twitter :D
This Weeks Memory Lane Monday...Vampire Academy By: Richelle Mead
Lissa Dragomir is a Moroi princess: a mortal vampire with an unbreakable bond to the earth's magic. She must be protected at all times from Strigoi; the fiercest and most dangerous vampires--the ones who never die.
The powerful blend of human and vampire blood that flows through Rose Hathaway, Lissa's best friend, makes her a Dhampir; she is dedicated to a dangerous life of protecting Lissa from the Strigoi, who are hell-bent on making her one of them.
After two years of illicit freedom, Rose and Lissa are caught and dragged back to St. Vladimir's Academy, hidden in the deep forests of Montana. Rose will continue her Dhampir education. Lissa will go back to being Queen of the elite Moroi social scene. And both girls will resume breaking hearts.
Fear made Lissa and Rose run away from St. Vladimir's--but their world is fraught with danger both inside and out of the Academy's iron gates. Here, the cutthroat ranks of the Moroi perform unspeakable rituals and their secretive nature and love of the night creates an enigmatic world full of social complexities. Rose and Lissa must navigate through this dangerous world, confront the temptation of forbidden romance, and never once let their guard down, lest the Strigoi make Lissa one of them forever...
Top Two Favourite Quotes:
#1 “Do you think I'm pretty?""I think you're beautiful"
"You are so beautiful, it hurts sometimes.”
#2 “Wow." I hadn't thought Dimitri could be any cooler, but I was wrong. "You beat up your dad. I mean, that's really horrible...what happened. But, wow. You really are a god."He blinked. "What?"
Vampire Academy is the first out of a total of six books in the impeccable Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead. When I was "scouting out" my bookshelf, my eyes fell on this book and I immediately knew that I just had to feature it this week! I'm not going to go into a whole description of the book (the synopsis pretty much lays out the plot all on its own). Vampire Academy was again another book that made choosing only two quotes as painful a pulling teeth!
There are two major reasons why this book is a must-read! For one, the main character (Rose) is one of the most bad-ass heroine you will ever meet. She's the perfect combination of sarcasm, sexy, and tough girl- I love Rose so much! Secondly, the romance in this book is hot as hell (and let me tell you, it gets steamier and steamier with each book)! Dimitri and Rose make the perfect duo- with Dimitri's sexiness providing us with many swoon worthy moments. Swoons!
Richelle Mead takes us into the Vampire world in a unique and tasteful way- while also taunting us with a forbidden romance that is sure to keep you on your toes! If you haven't read the first book to this series yet, then I highly recommend it to all of you bookworms out there :) Let me know your thoughts on the book in the comments, on twitter, facebook, goodreads or shelfari- I'd love to hear from you! See you next Monday!
