Memory Lane: Iron King by Julie Kagawa

Yes, it is that time of the week. The day we dread and wish would never come- Mondays. *Wipes tear* But have no fear, Memory Lane Monday is here! Every Monday, here at TheYABookworm, I'll do a special post called Memory Lane Monday. What's that you ask? Memory Lane Monday is a once-a-week post where I (or any other bloggers that wish to participate)  choose one book that I've previously read to be featured on that day. From the book chosen, I will pick two of my favourite quotes and write a little blurb containing my quick thoughts on the book. The books that I choose will not be books I've reviewed- since I've read so many books, I want to share with you my opinions on ones that I won't get the chance to fully review (because seriously, rereading dozens of books would take a year...or two)! Be sure to participate by leaving your "Memory Lane Monday" in the comments, or a link to your blog post with the hash-tag #YAMemoryLaneMonday on twitter :D

This Weeks Memory Lane Monday...
The Iron King By: Julie Kagawa

Meghan Chase has a secret destiny; one she could never have imagined.

Something has always felt slightly off in Meghan's life, ever since her father disappeared before her eyes when she was six. She has never quite fit in at school or at home.

When a dark stranger begins watching her from afar, and her prankster best friend becomes strangely protective of her, Meghan senses that everything she's known is about to change.

But she could never have guessed the truth - that she is the daughter of a mythical faery king and is a pawn in a deadly war. Now Meghan will learn just how far she'll go to save someone she cares about, to stop a mysterious evil no faery creature dare face; and to find love with a young prince who might rather see her dead than let her touch his icy heart.

Top Two Favourite Quotes:

#1 “I licked my lips and whispered, 'Is this where you say you'll kill me?'
One corner of his lips curled. 'If you like,' he murmured, a flicker of amusement finally crossing his face. 'Though it's gotten far too interesting for that.”

#2 “Metallic trees. That's new. If you see any steel dryads, be sure to tell me so I can run away screaming."

The Iron King is the first in a four book series by Julie Kagawa called The Iron Fey. The entire Iron Fey Series is a favourite of mine- with The Iron King being the perfect first instalment. The plot is unique, and is filled with strong characters that will stay with you long after you finish reading. The Iron King has so many different elements in it that made me devour the book! Oh how I love it so!

The entire story is really well rounded. Its action packed, addicting, surprisingly hilarious, and wonderfully romantic! The three main characters have many sides to them that are all incredibly enjoyable to read- you'll fall in love with Meghan, Puck, and Ash!

Equipped with a blazing love triangle, a strong heroine, (and an extraordinarily sarcastic cat, ;) The Iron King is a must read x3! Julie Kagawa is impeccable at creating both a story and characters that will keep you squealing with giddy and screaming in frustration- the way every good book should be! Be sure to look out for The Iron Fey Series #2 (Iron Daughter) on another Memory Lane Monday in the future! And, if you haven't already, check out Julie Kagawa's other mouthwatering series The Blood Of Eden HERE! See you next Monday!
