Memory Lane Monday: Twilight by Stephenie Meyers

Yes, it is that time of the week. The day we dread and wish would never come- Mondays. *Wipes tear* But have no fear, Memory Lane Monday is here! Every Monday, here at TheYABookworm, I'll do a special post called Memory Lane Monday. What's that you ask? Memory Lane Monday is a once-a-week post where I (or any other bloggers that wish to participate)  choose one book that I've previously read to be featured on that day. From the book chosen, I will pick two of my favourite quotes and write a little blurb containing my quick thoughts on the book. The books that I choose will not be books I've reviewed- since I've read so many books, I want to share with you my opinions on ones that I won't get the chance to fully review (because seriously, rereading dozens of books would take a year...or two)! Be sure to participate by leaving your "Memory Lane Monday" in the comments, or a link to your blog post with the hash-tag #YAMemoryLaneMonday on twitter :D

This Weeks Memory Lane Monday...
Twilight By: Stephenie Meyers

Isabella Swan's move to Forks, a small, perpetually rainy town in Washington, could have been the most boring move she ever made. But once she meets the mysterious and alluring Edward Cullen, Isabella's life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn. Up until now, Edward has managed to keep his vampire identity a secret in the small community he lives in, but now nobody is safe, especially Isabella, the person Edward holds most dear. The lovers find themselves balanced precariously on the point of a knife-between desire and danger.Deeply romantic and extraordinarily suspenseful, Twilight captures the struggle between defying our instincts and satisfying our desires. This is a love story with bite.

Top Two Favourite Quotes...

#1 “I am not really breaking any rules. Charlie said I could never take another step through the door again... I came in through the window... Still, the intent was clear," said Edward.

#2 “Don't be self-conscious, if I could dream at all, it would be about you. And I'm not ashamed of it.”

You had to see it coming right? How could we have a Memory Lane Monday without taking the time to remember one of Y.A's most popular series- and what better way to do it than by looking at the book that started it all? Twilight holds a very special place in my heart- in fact, without Twilight, the blog you are currently reading probably never would have existed. It is this book that opened my eyes and showed me how great reading can really be. Reading Twilight almost four years ago is the reason I am today the bookworm that I am!

Not only does Twilight reel you in with the doomed romance between human Bella Swan and vampire Edward Cullen, but it also makes you become completely in love with a family of characters. It is quite unusual to become attached to so many secondary characters in a series- sure there are a lot of books that have a few, but throughout Twilight and the rest of the series, you (or at least I did) develop a special love for every character.

Whether you like Twilight or not, you have to appreciate this story author Stephenie Meyer has created. Not many authors can create a book that touches so many people not only in North America, but across the entire world. Since reading Twilight, my life has changed- I couldn't imagine what my life would be like today if I hadn't become addicted to reading. And although I wish I could put my appreciation into better words, a gigantic thank-you to Stepheneie Meyer will have to do! What does Twilight mean to you? Love it or hate it? Why do you think people love it so much? Be sure to let me know in the comments! Keep Reading!

Your Y.A. Bookworm,
Caitlin <3

  1. I was just writing about Stephenie Meyer today, but for completely different reasons. I fell in love with Twilight, but didn't like the way the series progressed.

I'll give her credit, where credit is due; she was responsible for invigorating the YA market, especially the YA Paranormal Romance market.

Seriously, there would be no Fallen, The Mortal Instruments, The Iron Fey, Hush Hush, Evermore, and the list goes on and on without Meyer.
