Memory Lane Monday: Bloodlines by Richelle Mead

Yes, it is that time of the week. The day we dread and wish would never come- Mondays. *Wipes tear* But have no fear, Memory Lane Monday is here! Every Monday, here at TheYABookworm, I'll do a special post called Memory Lane Monday. What's that you ask? Memory Lane Monday is a once-a-week post where I (or any other bloggers that wish to participate)  choose one book that I've previously read to be featured on that day. From the book chosen, I will pick two of my favourite quotes and write a little blurb containing my quick thoughts on the book. The books that I choose will not be books I've reviewed- since I've read so many books, I want to share with you my opinions on ones that I won't get the chance to fully review (because seriously, rereading dozens of books would take a year...or two)! Be sure to participate by leaving your "Memory Lane Monday" in the comments, or a link to your blog post with the hash-tag #YAMemoryLaneMonday on twitter :D

This Week's Memory Lane Monday...
Bloodlines By: Richelle Mead

Blood doesn't lie...

Sydney is an alchemist, one of a group of humans who dabble in magic and serve to bridge the worlds of human and vampires. They protect vampire secrets - and human lives. When Sydney is torn from her bed in the middle of the night, at first she thinks she's still being punished for her complicated alliance with dhampir Rose Hathaway. But what unfolds is far worse. Jill Dragomir - the sister of Moroi Queen Lissa Dragomir - is in mortal danger, and the Moroi must send her into hiding. To avoid a civil war, Sydney is called upon to act as Jill's guardian and protector, posing as her roommate in the last place anyone would think to look for vampire royalty - a human boarding school in Palm Springs, California. But instead of finding safety at Amberwood Prep, Sydney discovers the drama is only just beginning...

Top Two Favourite Quotes...
#1 “My God, Sage. Your eyes. How have I never noticed them?"
That uncomfortable feeling was spreading over me again. "What about them?"
"The color," he breathed. "When you stand in the light. They're amazing... like molten gold. I could paint those..." He reached toward me but then pulled back. "They're beautiful. You're beautiful.”

#2 “You should've just gotten a kids' meal." Adrian told me, pointing to my half-eaten burger and fries. "You could've saved me a lot of money. And gotten a toy.”

I have come to the sudden realization that tomorrow, my fellow bookworms...I must go back to school *shudders* My denial of this frightful day has only seemed to make it arrive much faster than I expected- so this Memory Lane Monday is in fact acting as my pick-me-up for the day. So for this dreadful occasion I decided to choose a book that can only bring smiles to my currently annoyed face (-_-), and that book is Bloodlines by Richelle Mead.

Bloodlines is the  Vampire Academy spin-off series that focuses on the adventures of the Alchemist and human Sydney Sage. The novel revolves around Sydney's  new role as protector for the endangered Moroi princess Jill Dragomir, and her struggle with working alongside vampires- creatures she has always been taught to hate. Seeing the vampire world from a different perspective other than Rose's was frustrating, and incredibly interesting at the same time...I loved it! =D

Characters from the previous Vampire Academy series also make some cameos (which was awesome) with Adrian even becoming a main character! The romance in this book might not be the main focus like it was in the original series, but the possibility of a relationship between Adrian and Sydney is fuel enough to keep you turning pages (At least it was for me :P) !

I definitely recommend this book to all Vampire Academy fans- especially the Team Adrian supporters out there! Have you read Bloodlines? Did you love the Vampire Academy series? Be sure to let me know in the comments! Keep Reading!

  1. I still need to read this one! I loved Adrian in VA, but didn't care too much for Sydney. I am looking forward to getting to know her better though.

    1. I was uncertain about Sydney being the focus of this series as well but I was quite surprised by how much I enjoyed her character. She's bad ass in her own way ! Plus seeing Adrian again is an added bonus....a fabulous bonus indeed ;P
