Memory Lane Monday: Crescendo by Becca Fitzpatrick

Yes, it is that time of the week. The day we dread and wish would never come- Mondays. *Wipes tear* But have no fear, Memory Lane Monday is here! Every Monday, here at TheYABookworm, I'll do a special post called Memory Lane Monday. What's that you ask? Memory Lane Monday is a once-a-week post where I (or any other bloggers that wish to participate)  choose one book that I've previously read to be featured on that day. From the book chosen, I will pick two of my favourite quotes and write a little blurb containing my quick thoughts on the book. The books that I choose will not be books I've reviewed- since I've read so many books, I want to share with you my opinions on ones that I won't get the chance to fully review (because seriously, rereading dozens of books would take a year...or two)! Be sure to participate by leaving your "Memory Lane Monday" in the comments, or a link to your blog post with the hash-tag #YAMemoryLaneMonday on twitter :D

This Week's Memory Lane Monday...
Crescendo By: Becca Fitzpatrick

The sequel to the New York Times Best selling phenomenon, Hush, Hush! Nora should have know her life was far from perfect. Despite starting a relationship with her guardian angel, Patch (who, title aside, can be described anything but angelic), and surviving an attempt on her life, things are not looking up. Patch is starting to pull away and Nora can't figure out if it's for her best interest or if his interest has shifted to her arch-enemy Marcie Millar. Not to mention that Nora is haunted by images of her father and she becomes obsessed with finding out what really happened to him that night he left for Portland and never came home.

The farther Nora delves into the mystery of her father's death, the more she comes to question if her Nephilim blood line has something to do with it as well as why she seems to be in danger more than the average girl. Since Patch isn't answering her questions and seems to be standing in her way, she has to start finding the answers on her own. Relying too heavily on the fact that she has a guardian angel puts Nora at risk again and again. But can she really count on Patch or is he hiding secrets darker than she can even imagine?

Top Two Favourite Quotes...
#1 I nibbled my lower lip. "If you could see into my past just by touching my back, you'd have a hard time resisting the temptation too."
"I have a hard time keeping my hands off you without that added bonus.”

#2 “I’m going to grab a cheeseburger,” I told Patch. “Want anything?”
“Nothing on the menu.”
I smiled. “Why, Patch, are you flirting with me?”

This week's Memory Lane Monday is Crescendo by Becca Fitzpatrick. Crescendo is the second installment in the Hush Hush trilogy, so I thought it was an appropriate choice for this week because the fourth and final Hush Hush novel will be coming out on October 23 *insert squealing here

I wouldn't say Crescendo is  particularly my favourite book  in the series, but it does contain some of my top favourite scenes between Patch and Nora. Patch definitely has less of a presence in this book (which is common in sequels....for some reason authors just love taking our fictional crushes away from us :'( Nora  also has to start taking matters into her own hands in this book- giving her a bit of independence and separation from Patch. Although there were times I was a bit annoyed with Nora, it didn't take anything away from my personal enjoyment of the book.

Hush Hush was, and continues to be, one of my favourite series- and Crescendo didn't let me down. In fact, it ends with a huge cliffhanger that left me completely frustrated over the long wait I had to endure for book three! What did you think about Crescendo? Are you a fan of the Hush Hush series?! Be sure to let me know in the comments :) Keep Reading!

  2. I love this series! Awesome picks for the quotes - Patch has a way of wreaking some serious butterflies-in-the-tummy havoc.

I don't know why I haven't participated in Memory Lane Monday before; it's such a great idea! I'll be joining the fun next week. :)

    Happy Reading!
