Deity By: Jennifer L. Armentrout Review

Deity
Author: Jennifer L. Armentrout
Publisher: Spencer Hills Press
Pages: 360
Rating: 5/5

      "History is on repeat, and things didn't go so well the last time."
      Alexandria isn't sure she's going to make it to her eighteenth birthday--to her Awakening. A long-forgotten, fanatical order is out to kill her, and if the Council ever discovers what she did in the Catskills, she's a goner... and so is Aiden.
     If that's not freaky enough, whenever Alex and Seth spend time "training"--which really is just Seth's code word for some up close and personal one-on-one time--she ends up with another mark of the Apollyon, which brings her one step closer to Awakening ahead of schedule. Awesome.
     But as her birthday draws near, her entire world shatters with a startling revelation and she's caught between love and Fate. One will do anything to protect her. One has been lying to her since the beginning. Once the gods have revealed themselves, unleashing their wrath, lives will be irrevocably changed... and destroyed.
      Those left standing will discover if love is truly greater than Fate...

     Happy Deity Release Day!!! *throw confetti*

     Deity is the third instalment in the Covenant series by author Jennifer L. Armentrout! I pre-ordered this book a few months ago and I was so excited that it arrived five days before the release date *cheers for Amazon awesomeness* On Saturday when everyone was excited for an extra hour of sleep, I was excited for an extra hour of reading time! Deity was by far the best covenant novel yet! I don't know how she does it, but Jennifer keeps creating better, sexier, and more addicting novels with every new release !!

     Deity was completely filled with action, steaminess, surprises, and cliffhangers that made it pretty much impossible for me to stop reading (which my civics teacher probably won't appreciate because I was supposed to be studying for my exam today :$ .....*shrugs*)

     Bookworms will be happy to know that lots of development happens in regards to the love triangle- LOTS of development *fans herself* I really don't want to spoil anything for you guys but I will say that I don't know how anyone can be team Seth after reading Deity. I've been Team Aiden since the beginning and there's no doubt in my mind (especially after reading Deity) that this is who Alex belongs with! I swooned so much while reading this book- it was seriously ridiculous. About three quarters into the book I had found myself in what I like to call a "Deity pattern"- *blasts fan*, *swoon*, *pick up jaw from floor*, *sigh*, *squeal* and repeat like a bazillions times.....I wish (but not really) that I was exaggerating!

     We get to see many different sides of our favourite characters in this Covenant novel. For one, we get to see a bit more vulnerability from Alex- but no worries, she's still as bad ass as ever! Secondly, I think you bookworms will be pleasantly surprised by how much Aiden opens up in Deity. Like Alex, we get to see a bit more of his vulnerable side (as if he couldn't be sexy enough) and even get a glimpse into what his past was like. As for Seth, well I think all I'm going to say is that I was really, really, shocked by how much Seth changes....

    I also want to point out that I finally realized that the thing on the top right of Deity's cover is a neck! Although the cover has been available online for our viewing pleasure for the past few months, I never really knew what that thing was......anybody else just make this revelation, or is my brain just stupid?! :P

Favourite Quotes...

"I'm not a child!"
His eyes narrowed. "I of all people know you're not a child, Alex. And I sure as hell
didn't treat you like one last night" <----- 0_0 excuse me while I go blast my AC to
save myself from a swoon-attack

~~~~~
"I... I keep forgetting how fast you can move when you want to."
A strange small smile played over his lips. "You haven't seen anything yet, Alex."
~~~~~

Caleb squeezed me tighter and he laughed. "I know, but we need to stop with this
friendship bonding crap, Alex. First we're tortured by daimons together and now we've
both been stabbed. That's taking the 'we do everything together' to an all-new high."

Overall...

Aiden's Novella
     Overall, like I said earlier, Deity was definitely my favourite covenant novel yet (and I have to add that 'yet' because who knows what Jennifer will do next)! If you've read other reviews then you probably know that Deity ends in a major cliffhanger that will have you clawing your eyes out! Luckily, I think Jennifer suspected we would all be slamming our heads on keyboards when we discovered we would have to wait until April to read Apollyon (Covenant #4), because on November 27, Elixir (A novella set between Deity and Apollyon through Aiden's POV) will be released! I am SO excited to be getting a glimpse into Aiden's head and once you read Deity, you'll understand why. Have you read Deity? Are you team Aiden or Seth?! Be sure to let me know in the comments below! Keep Reading!

Your Y.A. Bookworm,
Caitlin <3
