Memory Lane Monday: Elixir by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Yes, it is that time of the week. The day we dread and wish would never come- Mondays. *Wipes tear* But have no fear, Memory Lane Monday is here! Every Monday, here at TheYABookworm, I'll do a special post called Memory Lane Monday. What's that you ask? Memory Lane Monday is a once-a-week post where I (or any other bloggers that wish to participate)  choose one book that I've previously read to be featured on that day. From the book chosen, I will pick two of my favourite quotes and write a little blurb containing my quick thoughts on the book. The books that I choose will not be books I've reviewed- since I've read so many books, I want to share with you my opinions on ones that I won't get the chance to fully review (because seriously, rereading dozens of books would take a year...or two)! Be sure to participate by leaving your "Memory Lane Monday" in the comments, or a link to your blog post with the hash-tag #YAMemoryLaneMonday on twitter :D

Elixir By: Jennifer L. Armentrout

Aiden St. Delphi will do anything to save Alex.

Even if it means doing the one thing he will never forgive himself for.
Even if it means making war against the gods.

Top Two Favourite Quotes...
#1 “Alex, you have to be in there. I know you. My heart would not be beating if you were truly gone.”

#2“Love is such a wild and reckless creature. It cannot be planned or threaded. It cannot be controlled. Love can coexist with Fate, or it can undo it. Love is the only thing more powerful than Fate.”

This week's Memory Lane Monday comes from Elixir (Covenant #3.5) by Jennifer L. Armentrout. Because Elixir is a less than 100 page novella I wasn't planning on writing a formal review, so I thought this would be the perfect time to feature it as  a Memory Lane Monday!

Elixir acts as the bridge between book three (Deity) and book four (Apollyon). This novella is actually what saved me from going completely insane after that killer cliffhanger at the end of Deity. We get to see what happens as a result of Deity's ending, and because Alex is in a very un-Alex state of mind, this bridge is definitely more interesting to read through another character's POV. And what better character than Alex's super hot beau, Aiden?!

After reading Deity, I honestly didn't think there would be any way for Jennifer to make me love Aiden more than I already did.....but let me say this.....SOMEHOW she did it! This 74 page masterpiece gives us a rare look into the mysterious character we all know as Aiden St. Delphi, or as I like to call him, Aiden St. Swoon ! I really liked getting the opportunity to see how Aiden views Alex (because we've only ever witnessed their relationship from Alex's POV) and seeing how vulnerable Aiden actually is!

If you've read Deity and are waiting to read Apollyon, then I highly suggest you read Elixir- I definitely think this novella is essential to read before book four because, although only 74 pages, there is a significant amount of plot development. I was exceptionally pleased with this novella and I'm really hoping Jennifer plans to give us more Aiden POV scenes in the future! What did you think about Elixir? Did you like reading through Aiden's POV? Be sure to let me know in the comments below! Keep Reading!
