Fate isn’t something to mess with… and now, neither is Alex.
Alex has always feared two things: losing herself in the Awakening and being placed on the Elixir. But love has always been stronger than Fate, and Aiden St. Delphi is willing to make war on the gods—and Alex herself—to bring her back.
The gods have killed thousands and could destroy entire cities in their quest to stop Seth from taking Alex’s power and becoming the all-powerful God Killer. But breaking Alex’s connection to Seth isn’t the only problem. There are a few pesky little loopholes in the whole “an Apollyon can’t be killed” theory, and the only person who might know how to stop the destruction has been dead for centuries.
Finding their way past the barriers that guard the Underworld, searching for one soul among countless millions, and then somehow returning will be hard enough. Alex might be able to keep Seth from becoming the God Killer… or she might become the God Killer herself.

Before reading Apollyon, I highly recommend you read Elixir (Covenant novella #3.5) if you haven't already. Elixir acts as a bridge between Deity and Apollyon that I believe is pretty essential to read because you miss out on about 100 pages of plot without it. You may not miss huge, need-to-know information, but it gives you a better perspective as to how different Alex really is in her "bound-to-Seth state" and gives you some inside knowledge on some of  the things Alex is confused by in Apollyon. Plus it's available for your viewing pleasure on Spencer Hill Press' website for free AND its in Aiden's POV- so really, there's absolutely no excuse not to read it ! :P

Apollyon has a very different "feel"compared to the previous three books and that has a lot to do with the gained maturity of its characters, particularly Alex. Don't get me wrong, she's still the sarcastic, bad ass Alex we all love, just with an added sensor that allows her to put some things into perspective. All of the characters really have a more mature feel- the loss, love and uncertainty they've all been through (and are continuing to experience) really changes them, and makes your heart ache at certain points in the book.

Deity may have been the turning point for Alex and Aiden's relationship, but Apollyon is where they reach epic fictional couple levels! Not only are they now very open with their relationship (something we would never have seen happening in Half Blood or Pure), but it is so blatantly visible that they are each other's support system. They are equals now, which changes the dynamic of their relationship a bit-- and for the better, may I add! I've got probably about fifty or so sticky notes marking some of my favourite parts in Apollyon, and I can definitely say that at least 50% of those exist because of Aiden's ability to turn me into a puddle of swoon-overload-goo! How is it possible for perfection like Aiden, even where fiction is concerned, to exist?!

The amount of action squeezed into this book is unbelievable! Whether our favourite characters are in a kick-ass battle or are dealing with emotions that tear at your heart strings, there's seriously never a dull moment! Apollyon is the definition of "EMOTIONS EVERYWHERE!"

Jennifer honestly has a knack for creating epic endings. Although Apollyon doesn't leave off with a tortuous cliffhanger like a Deity, it does manage to catch your breath once you finish. I personally was in tears the last few pages, and wasn't even fully able to comprehend that when I reached the last page that it was in fact the last page. I simply closed the book, wiped my tears and then started tearing up again once I realized I would have to wait until December to read Sentinel! *brings out tissue box*

Favourite Quotes...

Aiden stared up at me, unblinking. “To love is not weak. Love is the strongest thing there is.”

Overall...

Overall, Apollyon will sure have readers everywhere laughing to death one minute, in tears the next, and anxiously flipping pages with regular stops of heart-stopping swoon goodness along the way. I continue to be completely in awe in how this series always manages to spark so many different emotions in me! Not knowing what's going to happen next is leaving my imagination running wild- I need Sentinel NOW! Are you excited to read Apollyon?! What are you hoping to see happen in this next instalment in The Covenant series? Be sure to let me kow in the comments below! Keep reading!

  1. I can't even begin to tell you how EXCITED I am for this book. Aiden is freaking fantastic and I am so excited to see how this couple reacts to each other after reading elixer. AND I am thrilled to hear that it is no longer hidden because I think it means that there is a change in how this world interacts, and that is greatly needed! :) :) Can't wait!!
