Ashton Summers is on her way to becoming the most popular girl in school and nothing—or no one—is going to stand in her way. Especially not Luca Byron, her freak neighbor, with his tattoos, loud music, and distracting green eyes.
Luca Byron has three goals in life: get through high school with a low profile, make sure his garage band becomes something more than a hobby, and try to forget about his insufferable ex-best friend, Ashton, who he can’t get out of his mind.
The last thing Ashton and Luca want to do is rekindle their friendship, but when Ashton takes a tumble down the social ladder, Luca—with his new makeover—is the only one who can help her rise up again by pretending to be her boyfriend. At first, being together is unbearable and annoying, but things start to change as Ashton and Luca discover the real reasons they drifted apart seven years ago.

Now, keeping their hands off each other seems impossible.

     Impossible is a Y.A. contemporary romance by author Komal Kant. Impossible has a very cliche boy and girl next door story-line, where both characters hate each others guts but have a mysterious past in which both of them used to be friends. The reasoning behind the end of their friendship is unknown at the beginning, but as we learn more about Ashton and Luca's history together, you can't help but wishing for a romantic reunion!

     The dynamic between Ashton and Lucas's relationship was, again cliche in the 'I hate you, but I love you' sort of way, but was completely addicting. Their sexual tension and hot-and-cold interactions makes it hard to stop reading, and that's not even including those swoon filled lines that made me, well, swoon! :P

     In all honesty, I couldn't stand Ashton's character! She starts off as being this huge b**** to not only Luca, but to other kids at her school as well, all because she wants to fit in with her other bitchy friends. She fits the definition of a bully perfectly, is materialistic and thinks she's better than everyone around her. What bothered me most about Ashton wasn't even the fact that she was a real b*****, it was the fact that I didn't see much growth in her. For one the only reason she agrees to go out with Luca is because he suddenly gets a makeover that, I guess makes him "acceptable" to be around. Her shallowness continued to be a dominant part of who she was and I was completely turned off by it. That being said, although by the end of the novel Ashton has evidently "changed"....it wasn't enough to make me actually like her as a protagonist.

     Luca on the other hand was *sigh* ....pretty awesome! He has this whole gothic/emo look going on at the beginning (not that I'm goth or anything but I'm a girl who loves her black, lol) and proves to be much more likable than Ashton. In addition to being a good looking fella, he also manages to put Ashton in her place and even stands up for one of Ashton's victims. If that's not hot, I don't know what is!

Favourite Quotes...

"Remember when we made that deal that I would pretend to date you in exchange for a favour?"
I nodded, wondering where he was going with this.
"We'll, I'm cashing it in now. Don't ever leave me. Don't let me go. Always stay with me."

~~~~~
"Ugh, you're disgusting!" I cut him off, not wanting to hear anymore.
"You started it," he said and jabbed me in the collar bone. His finger lingered there and I shivered. "Is that what gets you in the mood? Pretty kinky."
He laughed as I shot him daggers and stormed back inside, splashing lemonade everywhere as I went. Did he have to be so damn hot and annoying at the same time?
Overall...
     Overall, Impossible may have been cliche with a very hard to like main character, but I can't deny that I flew through it and came away pretty satisfied. The ending may have been a tad rushed, but all in all, I think it's a pretty good read! I'm looking forward to reading more from this author in the future! Have you read Impossible?   2. I like the cover and even though the MC sounds pretty horrid and I hate that the boy next door had to get a makeover before he could be accepted, it actually sounds like a book I would like for some reason!! At least now I know what to expect, thanks!!
    1. Like I said, although I didn't like Ashton, and it was cliche...I still devoured it! It's just those things made it hard for me to give it a 4 or 5.
      Thanks you so much! I just got it done in January and I'm in love with it :)
