School is out and Lucy is ready for the perfect summer: lazy days at the pool, invitations to the most exclusive parties, and romantic dates with her hot new boyfriend. That is, until she lands in trouble one too many times and her parents issue the ultimate punishment: a summer job. Suddenly, the summer can't end fast enough.
To make matters worse, the job is painting houses with Justin, the most popular, egotistical guy in school. Spending all summer with Justin might be other girls' dreams, but definitely not Lucy's. After all, Justin is cocky, annoying, and a jerk. So what if he's the most beautiful jerk Lucy's ever seen? Or that his grin makes her forget she’s mad at the world? Or that maybe, just maybe, there's more to Justin than Lucy realizes. Only one thing is certain: it won’t be the summer she wanted, but it might be exactly the one she needs.

Effortless With You is a YA Contemporary Romance by author Lizzy Charles. I was really excited to read this one because I had read some really great reviews and I'm so glad it was as romance-y and addicting as I hoped it would be! Don't plan on getting anything done once you start Effortless With You because I guarantee you won't be putting it down until the very end!

Lucy is a sixteen year old girl, who after befriending the attention-seeker Marissa, is grounded and thrown into a summer exterior painting job set up by her parents. It is here that Lucy really starts hanging out with Justin. At the beginning of the novel, Lucy seems to be living in Marissa's shadow as she desperately thrives for a better social life than her horrific shoving-locker-filled freshman year. However as the novel progresses, Lucy evolves with confidence and starts to independently shine--it was refreshing to see. Throughout the entire novel, Lucy provides humour and shows compassion despite being originally surrounded by people who only care about popularity. In addition, seeing Lucy mend her strained relationship with her mother further showed how much Lucy was growing into herself.

Initially, Lucy's attitude towards Justin is one filled with anger. She frequently insults him and shows on numerous occasions that she's not like every other girl that falls head over heals for the good-looking, egotistical boy.  However, as we see more and more of Justin and Lucy together, we learn alongside Lucy that Justin isn't the guy Lucy once thought he was. Instead, there's a lot more to Justin than just meets the eye and as Lucy discovers this, her feelings toward him change. Their conversations were just so amusing and flirty-- you can't help but root for them (even though Justin already has a girlfriend ;P)!

The other highlight of this book would most definitely be the dynamic between Lucy, and her co-workers. The entire painting crew consists of both Justin and his friends, and seeing the way Lucy interacts with this group of boys brought a smile to my face more than once. The brother-sisterly way the boys treat Lucy (well, except for Justin of course :P) really added something to Effortless With You.

Overall...
Overall, I think Effortless With You may be my favourite YA Contemporary novel that I've read this summer. Effortless With You is a flirty yet deep romance filled with great comedy, tough struggles and an ending that is sure to warm your heart! I definitely will be recommending this one to all you Contemporary Lovers out there! Have you read Effortless With You? What's your favourite contemporary read? 1. For me it really depends on the story. I do though lean more towards a good ending, where everything is figured out. I usually do not like cliff hangers unless there's going to be a second book.
    Thanks for the giveaway!
