Memory Lane Monday: Where Beauty Lies by Elle & Blair Fowler

Yes, it is that time of the week. The day we dread and wish would never come- Mondays. *Wipes tear* But have no fear, Memory Lane Monday is here! Every Monday, here at TheYABookworm, I'll do a special post called Memory Lane Monday. What's that you ask? Memory Lane Monday is a once-a-week post where I (or any other bloggers that wish to participate)  choose one book that I've previously read to be featured on that day. From the book chosen, I will pick two of my favourite quotes and write a little blurb containing my quick thoughts on the book. The books that I choose will not be books I've reviewed- since I've read so many books, I want to share with you my opinions on ones that I won't get the chance to fully review (because seriously, rereading dozens of books would take a year...or two)! Be sure to participate by leaving your "Memory Lane Monday" in the comments, or a link to your blog post with the hash-tag #YAMemoryLaneMonday on twitter :D

This Week's Memory Lane Monday...
Where Beauty Lies By: Elle & Blair Fowler
The London sisters return in this charming new novel about love, friendship, and the perils of fame. Despite their very public arrest, Ava and Sophia London are about to discover that in L.A. there's no such thing as bad press. Suddenly, they are the hottest "It" girls in town and are one step closer to making their brand, London Calling, a household name. Their newfound celebrity status takes them jet setting to New York City to expand their brand into fashion and home goods. Their first stop is fashion week, where they're about to put on their inaugural fashion show...but not if their rivals have anything to say about it. The same unseen enemies responsible for framing them in L.A. are back - and determined to ruin the sisters for good this time. Can Ava and Sophia find out who's trying to destroy them before it's too late?
Top Two Favourite Quotes...
#1 "The song is called 'Always London.' Because it's always been you."

#2 "...Love has nothing to do with money or someone's title or what they do for a living. It's about the person..."

Where Beauty Lies is the second instalment in Elle and Blair Fowler's Beneath the Glitter series. When I first read Beneath the Glitter, I enjoyed it but found a few things I wasn't too crazy about-- unfortunately that seems to be the pattern once again in regards to my thoughts of Where Beauty Lies. Don't get me wrong, it's a fun, light chick-lit read but I found it lacking in certain areas, making it hard for me to say that it's a must-read

Ava and Sophia London return once again on their journey to create their new fashion line. However along the way, it is discovered someone has been stealing Ava and Sophia's designs and are claiming them as their own. While dealing with the struggles of gaining recognition in the fashion world, Ava and Sophia London also are going through their own romantic problems. Ava has met someone in New York but is still unable to forget Dalton, while Sophia is dealing with Hunter's overbearing ways as she is trying (and failing) to deny the fact that she has lingering feelings for Giovanni. I'm someone who almost always is a supporter of romance, but in Where Beauty Lies, I found it got to the point of too much romantic drama. There's so many guys in the London Sisters' lives that you just want to shake them and say "JUST PICK [insert hot male's name here] BECAUSE WE KNOW THAT'S WHAT YOU REALLY WANT!" Do you guys ever have those "character-shaking" moments, or is it just me?

Like I said before, if you're looking for something that is light-hearted, easy to read, and feels like a book version of a chick-flick, this is the series for you. For me, they're okay reads for when I want something on the cute-sy, sweet side. All in all, I liked Where Beauty Lies more than Beneath the Glitter but I can't say I'm all too impressed with the writing of this series as a whole. Have you read Where Beauty Lies? Who is your favourite: Sophia or Ava? Be sure to let me know in the comments below! Happy Monday!
