Memory Lane Monday: Natural Born Angel by Scott Speer

Yes, it is that time of the week. The day we dread and wish would never come- Mondays. *Wipes tear* But have no fear, Memory Lane Monday is here! Every Monday, here at TheYABookworm, I'll do a special post called Memory Lane Monday. What's that you ask? Memory Lane Monday is a once-a-week post where I (or any other bloggers that wish to participate)  choose one book that I've previously read to be featured on that day. From the book chosen, I will pick two of my favourite quotes and write a little blurb containing my quick thoughts on the book. The books that I choose will not be books I've reviewed- since I've read so many books, I want to share with you my opinions on ones that I won't get the chance to fully review (because seriously, rereading dozens of books would take a year...or two)! Be sure to participate by leaving your "Memory Lane Monday" in the comments, or a link to your blog post with the hash-tag #YAMemoryLaneMonday on twitter :D

This Week's Memory Lane Monday...
Natural Born Angel By: Scott Speer

Life turned upside down for Maddy Montgomery when she found out she was half-Angel and was catapulted into the scene of flashbulbs, paparazzi, and the fervent adulation that comes with being in the celebrity Angel world. She's trying to juggle her ordinary life—high school, family, friends—with the intense demands of being in the public eye as heartthrob Angel Jackson Godspeed's girlfriend.
And now Maddy must face the most difficult choice of her life. She's been offered the chance to become a Guardian. This means entering into dangerous and high stakes training, with no guarantee that she can succeed. But more than that, it would mean leaving her mortal life behind—forever—and allying with the Angels at a time when their relationship with humans is heading for war. . .

Top Two Favourite Quotes...
#1 "I don't love you because you're an angel!" Jacks said. "I love you because you're Maddy..."

#2 She was glowing. She looked sexy. She liked it.

Last week I decided to feature Immortal City for Memory Lane Monday and since I just finished the sequel, I thought now would be a good time to briefly tell you my thoughts on Natural Born Angel. I have to say that although Natural Born Angel has gotten be curious to see how things will play out in book three, it didn't hold me like Immortal City did.

Both Maddy and Jackson become very different characters in Natural Born Angel. Maddy is being sucked into the world of Angel glamour, a world filled with publicity, photo-shoots and exclusive parties. Meanwhile, Jackson is dealing with the fact that he may never fly again. His inability to fly means he can't make any saves and as a result, everyone's attention is now on Maddy. This factor creates tension between Jackson and Maddy that builds and builds throughout the entire novel until they almost don't even seem like a couple anymore. Throw in another male and Maddy is now faced with a decision between two boys-- siding with her first love Jackson means joining forces with the angels, while siding with Tom means fighting for the human race. You all know what I think about second-book-love-triangles sooo....I'm going to leave it at that......TEAM JACKSON FOREVER!

Natural Born Angel was definitely not an easy sequel to get into but it did end in a major "What's going to happen?!" moment that has me looking forward to book three-- however I will be a little skeptical going into it. The actual politics between the angels and humans was interesting but I just had a hard time with all of the major changes the characters went through because it transforms the entire 'feel' of this world. Have you read Natural Born Angel? What did you think about both Jackson and Maddy in this book? Be sure to let me know in the comments below! Keep Reading!
